HOLISTIC APPROACH

A silo or fragmented view of the international legal order and of the application of its norms brings about partial results, which in mid to long term prove ineffective in practice. Both a purely bottom-up and a solely top-down perspective are limited in reach. An exclusive top-down angle may disregard the human being and its most basic rights and needs. A bottom-up standpoint may not ensure State’s compliance with the applicable international legal norms.

My over twenty years of work experience have taught me that a holistic view, which duly considers the human being and the environment, provides the most fair and efficient results in practice. Combining a bottom-up with a top-down approach has indeed succeeded in achieving due compliance with international legal norms, the full realization of human rights as well as the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the 2030 UN Agenda.
